Initially founded as Ace Tank and Welding Co. in 1937 on Seattle's Elliott Ave., we proceed through  our 64th year with main offices and warehouse  on Elliott and a branch sales office and warehouse in Portland, OR.

Operated by the Burwell family until 1989, Ace Tank and equipment was one of the founding members of the Steel Tank Association (STA), and one of the leaders in helping to develop the STI-p3® system of underground tank protection, with the dielectric protection (sacrificial zinc anodes), electrical isolation (nylon tank bushings) and protective exterior coating that led to the offering of a then-unheard of 30-year limited warranty. Later, with advancements in means of underground  protection, we were in at the beginning on the Permatank®: The fiberglass tank with the heart of steel.

Ace ingenuity also provided one of the first aboveground containment tanks -- the Dike.

Shortly before  the death of  family patriarch Bob Burwell, ownership of Ace was assumed by the Reese brothers. The eldest, R.Allan Reese, served as company president for many years. As a physicist, Allan developed a triple-walled insulated steel tank at a time when the industry was moving toward what would become the UL-2085 aboveground tank. The crux of the 2085 specifications involved (insulated) secondarily contained, fire-protected fuel storage with the ability to keep stored products from reaching their flash point for at least two hours. The triple-walled version (the 'Fuelsafe') underwent vigorous field testing on the Reese farm in central Washington. In the process a video camera melted (too close to the fire pool) and Allan singed a whisker or two.

A downturn in the new tank industry and increasing manufacturing costs led Ace decide to get away from in-house tank manufacturing in 2003. But we keep 'Tank' as part of our name because we now deal with a multitude of other tank fabricators to provide our clients with the type of tank --fuel and non-fuel containing as well-- that they want. And in all styles with an assortment of construction materials. Ace Tank & Equipment Co. has an experienced sales team covering not only the west coast; our toll-free number and internet access have put us in contact with customers throughout the world. We've supplied products from Alaska to Florida, Connecticut to Hawaii, the American Marianas, Guam, Canada and Mexico. We've served overseas markets such as the Netherlands, England, Belarus and Russia, to name a few.

We have territorial managers focusing on Alaska and the southwestern United States.

In the past few years, we have added back office software to our line of offerings to assist retail customers --especially in the C-Store industry-- to better control profit margins. And Ace is a distributor of Dresser Wayne retail fuel suction pumps and dispensers -- one of the most recognized names in the industry. We can help with 'ground-up' C-store construction projects, or in upgrades or 'rebranding'.

We'd appreciate the opportunity to work for you.
